Biography

Madhuri Dixit is born in Mumbai, India. She was born on 15 May 1967 in a Maharashtrian family to Shankar and Snehlata Dixit. Madhuri Dixit completed her education from Divine Child High School and Mumbai University and studied to be a microbiologist. She always always love to dance since the age of 3 and went on to practice the art of kathak and later on to become a trained professional Kathak dancer.

Madhuri Dixit made her career debute in hindi cinema from the Rajshree Poduction movie Abodh in 1984 opposit a bengali actor Tapas paul, but the film was flop, but the acting of Madhuri Dixit reviewed good responce. In the earliear 1980s Madhuri dixit was strugling for her carreer due to number of movies flopped on thebox office.

Madhuri Dixit finally attained stardom after a series of consecutive flops when she landed the lead female role of Mohini in N. Chandra's blockbuster romantic thriller Tezaab opposite Anil Kapoor. The film went on to become that year's highest grossing movie. It was Dixit's first commercial success and her earliest of several collaborations with Anil Kapoor. 

Akshay Shah of Planet Bollywood praised Dixit for her dancing skills and her acting was also praised. He wrote "Mahduri Dixit gives a fine tuned performance. Though she is more remembered for her crowd pleasing dance act Ek Do Teen, her acting needs to be noted, specially in the scenes where she is pitted against Anupam Kher. She looks and dances like a dream. Dixit received her first nomination for the Filmfare Best Actress Award for her work inTezaab. The highly popular item number Ek Do Teen from the film earned her widespread recognition and earned her the nickname "Ek Do Teen Girl. After that Madhuri Dixit paired with Anil Kapoor again for Subhash Ghai in Ram Lakhan, the film become superhit, the next release was Prem pratigya in which she stared oppsit to mithun chakraborty but the film not do well on the box office. and dixit got the success of next release Tridev with multistarer movie such as Nasiruddin Shah, Jacky shrof,Sunny Deol, sangeeta bijlani and sonam, and Madhuri acted opposit to Sunny deol and the film was the third biggest hit of that year. After that Dixit continouing their sucsess with again paired with Anil kapoor in Parinda.
In early 1990 was the year of romantic movies and dixit stared in romantc drama movie Dil with opposit Amir Khan and the movie was biggest hit of the year and dixit got the first film fare awards for her performance. After that she worked in Kishan Kanhaiya with Anil Kapoor, Sajan opposit to Sanjai Dutt, Beta once again opposit to Anil Kapoor and the movie was the biggest blockbustermovie of the year, Khalnayak the contrversial movie opposit to sanjai Duttand Jacky shrof, Anjam with shahrukh khan, Hum apke hain Kaun opposit to salman khan and the film was the biggest hit and collected 1.35billion world wide and breaking the record of the Sholay 1975.  

In the Millennium Edition of the "Guinness Book of World Records", Hum Aapke Hain Kaun became the Bollywood's highest grossing film. Dixit stared in Raja opposit to sanjai kapoor,Dil to pagal hai with Shahrukh khan and karishma kapoor, yaarana with Rishi kapoor, Prem Granth with Rishi Kapoor, Mohabbat with sajai kapoor and Akshay khanna, Arzoo with Akshay kumar and Saif ali khan, Pukar with Anil Kapoor, Koyla with Shahrukh khan, Ye raste hain pyar ke with Ajai devgan and prity zinta, Hum tumhare hain sanam with shahrukh khan, Lajja,etc.
