Sonali Bendre was born on 1 January1975 in Mumbai in a Marathi speaking family at Chandraseniya Kayastha Prabhu's house. She completed her basic aduction in Bangalore and after that she studied in Mumbai in Kendriya Vidyalaya Malleswaram and Holy Cross Convent High School, Thane Mumbai. There after she went to Welham Girls School, Dehradun Uttranchal at this time Uttranchal was in Uttar Pradesh.

     Sonali Bendre started her carrier as a model and branding many type of product such as liril before being selected for the "Star Dust Talent Search". After that sonali was invited to come Mumbai and received training from a variety of top actors and performers of the Indian film industry. 

She played her first roles in Aag (1994) opposite Govinda and Shilpa Shetty this was the first bollywood debute movie but ,The movie flopped,but she got noticed by critics And she got two Filmfare Award for Lux New Face of the Year and Star Screen Awards Most Promising Newcomer in bollywood debut. 

As wel as, Sonali  bendre was struggled to be a successful actress in the initial time, After that she was signed in Diljale opposit to Ajay Devgan and this film given her critical acclaim for her performances in 1996, After that she acted in Bhai (1997) with Sunil setty,Takkar opposit  Again Sunil Setty Sarfarosh Opposit Amir Khan, Zakhm with Nagarjuna, Duplicate Sharukh Khan, Kadhalar Dhinam (Tamil film), Hum Saath-Saath Hain: 

We Stand United (1999) with multistrer Salman Khan, Saif ali Khan, Mohnish Bahl, Tabbu and arishma Kapoor, Tera Mera Saath Rahen (2001) and Anahat (2003) among others. She is also known for being one of the few actresses who acted opposite all top four Khans (Salman, Aamir, Shahrukh and Saif). 

Sonali has also worked opposite Bollywood actors such as Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Anil Kapoor and also starred opposite Telugu Superstars Mahesh Babu in Murari, Chiranjeevi with Indra the Tiger, Akkineni with Nagarjuna and Nandamuri Balakrishna, Shankar Dada M.B.B.S., Angaaray with Nagarjuna, Manmadhudu, Palanti Brahma Naidu and Kannada Superstar Upendra in the film Preethse it was the remake of Darr.

All thes films are helped her to establish herself in bollywood as well as in tollywood and kollywood industry and she gain popularity in South and North India. After giving lots of hit movies now she is a well known Indian star internationally. 

In addition to her acting performances, she was also known as a graceful dancer through films such as Gaddar, Sapoot, Bombay,Lajja, Major Saab Hamara Dil apke paas hai and English Babu Deshi Mem.Sonali made a special appearance as Shahrukh Khan's doctor named Dr. Priya in Kal Ho Naa Ho in 2003, which also starred Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta.

After giving a long year to bolly wood industry, she married with film director Goldie Behl on 12 November 2002. On 11 August 2005, and she gave birth to a son, Ranveer, at the Breach Candy Hospital and currently sonali Hosting a TV show in Indias Best Dramebaaz on Zee TV with Vivek Oberoy.
